The Public Health Advocate

With a diverse undergraduate class of over 30,000 students, UC Berkeley has a diverse set of student voices. The Public Health Advocate’s goal is to bring those student voices to life. We are a publication established in 2005 dedicated to educating our local, national, and global communities about current public health topics. We provide students an opportunity to publish articles about issues they are passionate about researching and addressing. This year, we have a group of 36 students working to bring this publication to life.

We achieve this by publishing two print issues every academic year: once in the fall and once again in the spring. These full-color magazines, with informative visuals and insightful quotes, showcase our students' work and are freely distributed across UC Berkeley's campus to have the highest impact on the campus community. To our contributing writers, copy editors, and editorial board members, a printed issue is also a physical representation of the countless hours of work put in by our time writing, researching, editing, and interviewing.

However, due to limited funding, we have not had enough money to be able to publish all of our students' work in our semesterly print issues. With your support, we hope to change that. Please make a gift today!

Your contributions will help allow us to add 10 more available pages to publish student articles about topics relevant to our community, from environmental health to health policy and advocacy. We hope to be able to print 250 additional issues of our semesterly print issues with your support so more members can have access to our students' work. Finally, we can recruit even more students to share and explore their passions.
