Images of India: Asha for Education’s Annual Dance Event

MISSION

We are Asha for Education, a non-profit organization with over 50 chapters across the world that raises money for K-12 schools in India. Our mission is to expand access to equitable, high-quality education for underprivileged children across India. As the Berkeley branch of Asha for Education, we raise awareness of the crucial obstacles to Indian social mobility and development by funding seven educational projects across India: Rewards Trust, Mera Sahara, Jamghat, Avantika Vidhya Bhavan, Little Stars, Tihar, and Sakhi for Girls’ Education.

PROJECT

With your support, we hope to utilize these funds toward our annual campus dance competition, Images of India. This event brings together South Asian student organizations and the broader UC Berkeley community to celebrate culture while fundraising for educational equity. Financial support will allow us to ensure the event operates smoothly and reaches a wide audience. By reducing operational barriers, we can maximize attendance and fundraising potential, enabling us to give back meaningfully to all seven of our supported educational projects—most notably Sakhi for Girls’ Education.

Sakhi’s core mission is to create a safe, dedicated learning space for girls living in difficult circumstances. By providing a secure environment and access to quality education, Sakhi empowers girls who might otherwise be excluded from schooling to continue learning with dignity and stability.

WHAT YOUR DONATION GOES TOWARD

Event & Performance Costs – ~75%

Help us plan and host our Images of India cultural showcase!

• Renting an on‑campus venue
• Materials needed to run the event smoothly (signage, tickets, wristbands, and coordination supplies)
• Food and drinks for attendees, performers, and volunteers
• Interactive cultural elements, like henna or other arts‑based activities, to enhance the event experience

Outreach & Community Engagement – ~25%

Help us spread the word, bring people together, and stay connected beyond Images of India!

• Digital and printed promotional materials
• Tabling and outreach supplies 
• Follow‑up communication with participating student organizations after the event

If we do not meet our fundraising goal, any funds raised will still be used to support Images of India by covering essential event expenses such as venue, production, and outreach costs. This will allow us to host the event at a smaller scale while continuing to raise funds for our supported educational projects.
