For the past 15+ years, we've been fortunate enough to secure grants to help us travel to wherever CUPSI may be. However, this year, the UC doesn't support student travel to Texas because of the state's anti-LGBT laws. This means our majority QTPOC team cannot rely on the university to help us get there--we need you! You can help us reach our goal here. Every donation and share helps. We are beyond humbled to have received over 70 donations, but are anxious as the deadline approaches for acquiring funding. Don't forget about our donor perk wall! Ever wanted a poem written just for you? Want to experience the competition as it happens? All of these opportunities are afforded to you! As always, sharing and spreading the word will help us tremendously as well. We cannot compete at CUPSI without your support. Please donate and share today!
What has the CUPSI team been up to? Writing, of course! The team has created two new slam forms. There are about thirty poems drafted, with more to come as April approaches. We're so excited to share our work with you and represent UC Berkeley at the national level in Houston!

We are blown away by all the support we've received so far! As of this writing, we've received almost 70 donations totaling $2060 which means that we're 1/3 of the way to our goal. Please keep circulating our campaign to friends and family and sharing -- we couldn't do this without your support!
As we've been preparing for CUPSI 2019, our team has been hard at work writing group pieces, editing and finalizing drafts of poems, and working towards our own writing deadlines in March. We're so excited to share that we've (potentially) invented two new slam forms (!!!) and we can't wait to share our work at Houston in April!

Unfortunately, this means that our team of majority QTPOC poets is unable to receive any university support to fund our travel and lodging costs to CUPSI 2019. As a result, CalSLAM is relying entirely on community support. Please consider giving today to support our team!

We're so grateful to everyone who has donated thus far! We are halfway through the month of February, which means that there are just 13 more days left to give. Thank you to all of our 58 donors thus far - we are beyond humbled to reach this level of support from our community.

As April approaches, our team has been practicing twice every week with our coaches Arati Warrier and JonJon Moore. We've been hard at work writing poems together and are so excited to show you what we've created. Please consider giving today to support our team!

We'll write you a haiku (a poem of three lines, with syllables of 5-7-5), personalized just for you! Send us some themes or words you'd like us to incorporate into the haiku, or we'll come up with one of our own.
A personalized poem written just for you! We'll write you a poem of at least 10 lines on a topic of your choice, or approximately a 1-2 minute slam poem.
The previous two perk levels in combination! You'll get a personalized poem AND haiku, on topics of your choosing. The poems can be related to each other or each unique and independent works of art.
For our bronze donors, you'll receive access to our exclusive donor blog, where we'll post regular updates about our slam season practices and CUPSI preparation, as well as all previous perks!
For our silver donors, we'll be creating personalized thank you videos for your support! Comes with all previous perks, including social media shoutouts, personalized haiku and poem, and access to our exclusive donor blog.
For our gold donors, we'll be creating personalized livestreams for you while we're on the ground in Houston at CUPSI 2019! Includes all previous perk levels: social media shoutouts, personalized haiku and poems, access to our donor blog, thank you videos, and more.
