Established in 2008, Volunteers for Medical Outreach (VMO) is a student run organization that attends and fundraises for medical outreach trips in Vietnam each summer. Our members spend the school year learning about healthcare in the region, raising awareness for prevalent health-related issues experienced in Vietnam, and soliciting donations to buy the medical supplies necessary to run the mobile clinics, hepatitis B vaccination clinics, and corrective surgery programs that we attend. Every dollar that we raise goes towards funding healthcare resources in underserved communities—giving to our cause allows us to create a lasting impact and help improve health outcomes in areas that need the most assistance. Will you help us by making a gift today?
To reach our goals, VMO works alongside amazing nonprofit organizations such as Aid for Children Without Parents (ACWP) and Friends of Hue Foundation (FHF), based in San Jose. Traveling with ACWP, FHF, and Vietnamese officials throughout the trip, VMO members assist doctors during clinical sessions, teach basic health lessons to school children, calm children post-vaccination, and help maintain local schools. We believe that our efforts make a substantive impact and are a valuable experience for our club members. Donating to our organization helps us create and maintain sustainable projects and partnerships that work toward our goal of achieving global health equity one community at a time.
As we attempt to broaden our reach, we require the means to purchase more supplies and expand our club. At the moment, VMO has an operating budget of around $9,150. Visualized in the graphic below, the majority of our funds are dedicated towards purchasing the vitamins, antibiotics, and medical supplies necessary for our mobile clinics and vaccinations. With your help, we’ll have the potential to hold more clinics, have more than one trip each summer, or expand to other areas of need.
Most of the money that we raise is collected by club members via personal fundraising efforts and through events such as Krispy Kreme and Banh Mi Sales. Given our budgetary restrictions, we need more money if we’d like to make a bigger difference, which is a big reason why we’re doing this Crowdfunding campaign. Furthermore, because members must pay for their own hotel, flights, and food, some individuals are unable to attend due to financial limitations. If this campaign is successful, we will be able to purchase more medical supplies, expand our fundraising efforts, and create scholarship programs for those who wish to contribute, but cannot afford the expense.
All things considered, we believe that our organization makes a difference. Your contribution will help us achieve our goals and expand our impact. We thank you for your support, we truly appreciate it.
