Thanks to contributions from generous alums, we were recently able to completely renovate our only classroom, IEOR 1174 from "the dungeon" into a state-of-the-art auditorium. Thanks for making a difference!
This year, our goal is to continue to improve our space and foster connections with alumni.
With your help this year, we plan to install video recording capabilities into the new auditorium. This means that we will be able to record seminars, tech talks, alumni events, and courses at the click of a button. This will allow us to share more content to YouTube that will be accessible to alums!
We also plan to help improve space for graduate students, by working adding comfortable furniture and high-powered graphic computer workstations to save time for students by running their algorithms more quickly and conveniently!
We have been working hard to improve culture in the department, to help students and alumni get more connected with the department and help to guide it into the future.
One initiative is the new IEOR Communications Council, a group of IEOR undergraduates that help with newsletters, social media, events, and outreach (to help more people know about IEOR).
IEOR Communications Council 2019
This, along with the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) and Alpha Pi Mu (APM) has helped the department be more engaged in student activities.
Soon, we will announce a special alumni/student social event to help students and alums get connected. Additionally, students on the Council piloted a alumni/student mentor/mentee program this winter.
Initiatives that the Council is leading that you can participate in right now include, signing up for the IEOR Newsletter, the new IEOR jobs newsletter, and submitting your company's jobs to the newsletter to get more alumni working together.
Please donate today to help us continue the momentum! With your help, we know we can help students, faculty, staff, and alumni have more "Berkeley moments" to share in the future. Thank you!
Your contribution will be used to improve IEOR spaces, make graduate student offices more comfortable, and improve A/V in the new IEOR classroom so that we can record talks and share with alumni and the public.
Your contribution will be used to empower students to improve community both on-campus to help us reach more departments to let them know about IEOR and off-campus to foster more connections with alumni.
Your donation will be used to improve IEOR spaces, make graduate student offices more comfortable, and improve A/V in the new IEOR classroom so that we can record talks and share with alumni and the public. Also, part of your donation will be used to help foster alumni connections, such as through a special event with students. Finally, your donation will go toward computer workstations for graduate students equipped with latest graphical processors to help them do research more conveniently and effectively in the IEOR department.
