We have reached & exceeded our $5,000 goal!
Thanks to all of your contributions and efforts, we were able to recoup the program/materials costs for Solar Spring Break for this year, ensuring that the program will continue on next year! Not only this, but due to our incredible generosity we were able to exceed our goal by over $100 to better our program this upcoming year!
In addition to our campaign coming to a very happy, successful close, Team Member Kelly Jiang presented a poster on our program and it's impacts at the recent Student Environmental Resource Center Annual Gala and accepted an invite to present at a summit for the University of California Office of the President (UCOP). You can check out this poster below!
We cannot express our gratitude enough to you all - we would not have been able to build out this the Solar Spring Break program and accomplish all of the wonderful work we did in the past year without all of your help! This program is built upon, driven by, and carried out by thoughtful, committed, individuals - and you all are just as much a part of those on the install team!
We appreciate your patience as we get out your perks from donations!
Keep an eye out for news - and for students, applications - for the 2016-2017 program! For now, please enjoy updates at http://serc.berkeley.edu/solar-spring-break/
Thank you to everyone who has already donated and gotten us a third of the way towards our goal of $5,000. Your generous donations are helping us recoup the costs of equipment, tools, hardware, and other materials for the 2016 solar installation, and ensure UC Berkeley can have a fourth annual Solar Spring Break Team in 2017.
We have an update on the impacts of our solar installation! The Team installed a 3.03 kW-AC system which is estimated to provide an average lifetime energy usage offset of 94.56%. Clean energy systems benefit us all, with 67 tons of greenhouse gas emissions diverted from the environment. That's equivalent to the planting of 1,574 trees!
We also want to thank Daisy Meyer, GRID Alternatives Volunteer and Workforce Development Fellow, for taking these great photos of our trip: https://www.flickr.com/photos/gridalternatives/sets/72157666230808656
We hope you will share our Solar Spring Break Crowdfunding campaign with others, and thank you again for your generous donation. #GoSolar and #GoBears!
