Cal Gymnastics Club is an organization run by student volunteers who are passionate about gymnastics. Our mission is to offer gymnastics training for both recreational and competitive gymnasts and to make the sport accessible to everyone. We are committed to being inclusive, as our team is composed of UC Berkeley students, staff, alumni, and community members, with levels of experience ranging from beginners to formerly competitive gymnasts.
We are a competition-focused team that travels to meets all over the country. Our goal is to raise money to cover some of the expenses of traveling to competitions. Gymnastics is an expensive sport, and as a club, we try to absorb some of the individual costs to relieve the financial burden on our members. We raise most of our money by hosting fundraising events such as Parents Night Out where we supervise children so their parents can have a night out on the town. Fundraising is essential to our mission because we want competitive gymnastics to be available to all of our members regardless of their financial need.
This year, our team will be traveling to Providence, Rhode Island to represent UC Berkeley and compete in the national competition sponsored by the National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC). Nationals is the biggest college club gymnastics meet in the country (it is even gaining international attention) and the highlight of our competitive season. We train hard all year long, including summers, to prepare for this very important event.
Please help support the Cal Gymnastics club and your donations will help send our team to nationals where we can represent UC Berkeley in the biggest competition of the year. Many of us attending NAIGC Nationals have never competed before, and it’s amazing to give so many people this opportunity. Attending this competition is something very special to us, and our most important team activity by far.
