Our Crowdfunding Groups
Thank you to all of the donors who have helped us reach our original goal of $2,000! We are so excited to use this money to order new caps for our upcoming season in the spring. We now have a new stretch goal of $3,000 with the additional funding covering tournament fees and team travel expenses.
The Cal Women’s Club Water Polo Team is excited for our upcoming season this spring and we are already underway in practices and team bonding to prepare. From freshmen to seniors to graduate students with biology, social science and chemical engineering majors, our team is a diverse set of players with water polo skills from experienced players to individuals brand new to the sport. With our large range of interests, we all come together in water polo for the love of the sport and competitive spirit. During the fall, our team practices twice a week to prepare for the spring season where our team has placed 1st, 2nd, and 4th at League Champs, winning Nationals in 2015.
In water polo, it is essential to have team caps to identify our team and for protection from getting hit in the ears by a water polo ball. Unfortunately, our current set of water polo caps are in inadequate shape from caps with unraveling strings, torn ear pieces, and holes in the fabric to caps that are completely split into two and unusable. Due to the quality of our caps this past season, many of our athletes had to change their cap numbers during the last two tournaments because of the lack of protection they offered.
Cal Women’s Club Water Polo is a 100% student-run organization with no coaches or managers. As such, we pay out-of-pocket for lifeguards during practice, transportation, competition fees, and other associated costs out of love for the sport. As you can imagine, these expenses add up, and with new caps needed, we are enlisting the help of our community to ensure caps for the next few years of water polo members.
All funds raised will go toward payment for new caps and team travel to ensure that each student athlete can safely play water polo and travel to tournaments. Every dollar goes a long way, and we really appreciate any support you are able to give.
