Free Menstrual Products Initiative

We have a new goal! Check out the "Updates" tab for more information.

Our Project:

The Free Menstrual Products Initiative is a joint effort by Engineering Student Council (ESC) and The Coalition for the Institutionalization of Free Menstrual Products (CIFMP). We believe that menstruating students in our engineering school, and at Berkeley in general, should have easy access to free menstrual products on campus. This project will lay the foundations for that goal, a major step towards creating a better learning environment for all students at Berkeley.

Who We Are:

Engineering Student Council (ESC) is the principal student leadership group for Berkeley Engineering. Our mission is to represent the engineering student body, support engineering societies in reaching their full potential, and promote a diverse community through successful collaboration between students, faculty, societies, and the College of Engineering.

The Coalition for the Institutionalization of Free Menstrual Products (CIFMP) is an initiative that aims to maximize the wellness of menstruating students through supplying and distributing free menstrual products in various accessible locations at UC Berkeley.

The Details:

CIFMP has already provided a large supply of menstrual products; therefore, 100% of your donations will be used to purchase dispensers for the products (1 dispenser ≈ $300). The dispensers will be installed in women’s restrooms throughout the engineering campus, providing all engineers with easy access to menstrual products. Currently, we have approval to install dispensers in four buildings, but with additional funding and administrative approval, we hope to install dispensers in more than ten buildings. At that point, students in our community will have to look no further than the nearest restroom when they need emergency supplies.

One Last Note:

This project might seem small, but our ultimate goal is to have the administration step in and provide permanent resources. When you donate to our project, you are not just funding a short term solution, you are funding a new program that will better the lives of Berkeley students for years to come.

We are confident that we can reach this lofty goal, but we need your help. If you share our enthusiasm for improving the lives of students at Berkeley, then please consider making a donation today!
