Space Technologies at Cal (STAC) is a student-run engineering organization at the University of California, Berkeley with 60+ highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students focused on developing innovative space technologies and research. We are creating a collaborative student space platform, incorporating multiple research labs and industry partners, to enable research projects such as a modular High Altitude Balloon platform, Microgravity Experiments, a CubeSat qualifying and testing a quantum gyroscope, and an Autonomous Lunar Rover project.

As student researchers, scientists, and engineers, we aim to push the frontier of space innovation with each of our projects in order to bring humanity incrementally closer to becoming an inter-planetary society. With three High Altitude Balloon launches in 2018, a Micro-gravity Experiment launch with Blue Origin in 2019 and another planned for later this year, and a CubeSat launch that will be fully funded by NASA in 2021, STAC is eager to advance space research send UC Berkeley to space and beyond!
In addition to innovating and working on cool projects, STAC is committed to energizing the UC Berkeley aerospace community. In 2019 we hosted the second Space Tech Symposium @ Berkeley, with over 200 attendees from all corners of the Bay Area space community. Our events' past speakers have included CEOs and Co-founders of companies like Astranis and IRIS Automation, NASA and UC Berkeley researchers, and investors from venture capital firms.
But most of all, STAC is a tight-knit community of space nerds who love to dream, innovate, get things done, and have a good time doing it. Every year, we go on retreats and other get-togethers to welcome new members and form lifelong friendships. STAC would not be what it is today if it wasn't for the comradery that holds us together through the all-nighters before launches and the countless hours we put in week after week to bring these projects to life.
