The Berkeley Project
As a prestigious university, many people only see UC Berkeley as a place to study and leave once their four years are done. However, The Berkeley Project seeks to utilize these years in which thousands of students matriculate the campus to make a positive impact on the city of Berkeley.
Through community service we hope to bridge the the outside community with the campus community. By getting involved in public works like gardening, painting schools, etc. we aspire to redefine how students at Berkeley perceive their presence during the typical four years of their undergraduate experience. This organization seeks to build a relationship between those who call Berkeley their home and the students that come and go.
For one day each semester, the Berkeley Project hosts a large scale community service event. We would like to raise $7,500 for this organization because community service should be important to us all. Every year, the Berkeley Project saves the city approximately $200,0000 in maintenance alone. With the funds we would feed the students who participate, purchase shirts for the volunteers and sites which is a vital source of advertising for our organization.
The crowdfunding donations would also help us restock on items such as gardening gloves, first aid kits, and plastic bags all essential for neighborhood clean up. As a large scale event that lasts from morning to evening, we would like to provide nutritious lunches for our student volunteers. A donation of $20 could provide two of our students with sandwiches and snacks to energize them for the day. In order to keep this event going, we would love the help of donors in our goal for sustainable funding!
Please consider making a gift today to support the Berkeley Project in our next round of volunteer efforts!
