We are so happy to announce our final crowdfunding totals! 

Together, we raised $5,454 from 52 donors, reaching 109% of our goal in 29 days!! We are so, so, so grateful to everyone who made a donation to our campaign, spread the word on social media, and told their friends. As we've shared before, over 25% of the undergraduate student body faced housing insecurity in some form this last year. With your support for Housing the Bears, we're so excited that we can take a small step in helping out our peers in-need. <3 

What's next?

1. All funds raised will be transferred to the Basic Needs Center within the next 2 months. We'll aim to post an update before the end of the semester about the impact this will make on the BNC community! 
2. We will be working on fulfilling perks these next few weeks! So, keep an eye out for emails about our on-campus sticker distribution event next week, thank you notes and videos, and more. 
3. This campaign was Cal Student Philanthropy's first-ever crowdfunding campaign! We'll be back next year with a new cause and new campaign, so stay tuned by following us on Instagram at Cal Student Philanthropy.

Once again, we would like to thank all of our supporters! Because of you all, we have not only reached our original goal, we have exceeded it! So far, we have raised $5,369 and hopefully by the end of the day, we can reach our new goal of $6,000. There are about 12 hours left and our representatives will continue to promote this campaign on their social media accounts, as well as on our club Instagram (@calstudentphilanthropy) and TikTok (@calstudentphilanthropy). Gabriela Alfaro, one of our representatives, shares that this cause is important to her because "the Housing the Bears campaign ensures that anyone can attend college regardless of their economic background by providing students with housing security when they need it the most." Again, we can not express our thanks enough for your contribution in making students' lives better. Go Bears!

WOW!! We're so excited to announce that not only did we meet our goal, but we have surpassed it!! We're currently at 106% with $5,319 raised from 48 golden donors - thank you all so much for your support!!

We want to keep the momentum going, so we're aiming for a stretch goal of $6,000! We still have 4 more days left, and we believe we can do it! Please join us in spreading the word about Housing the Bears <3 

In the meantime, here's a quick spotlight from one of our Reps and one of our amazing graphic designers, Victoria Lu '25! "Every student deserves an amazing education without worrying about a place to live. As an international student, planning and thinking of how to pay off tuition can be really pressuring. I really hope this campaign can support people in need of it right now - even giving a little back to people just like us can make a huge difference."

WOW!! Thanks to all of your support, we've reached 79% of our goal, now at $1,354!! We've got 6 days left now to reach $5,000 and we have faith that the Cal community will come together to make it happen! Aneesa Conine-Nakano '22, our President, cares deeply about Housing the Bears: "Cal is an amazing community where people can find their passions and lifelong social and academic connections. The Basic Needs Center is a vital resource for Bears on campus to alleviate some of the stressors students face. Whether it be monetarily or by passing on this campaign to interested friends, all Cal Bears can make a difference to keep Cal golden!”

Aisha Naveed '25, one of our representatives, shares that this cause is important to her because "every person deserves a place to call home." Another one of our members, Rena Lu '25, shares "Housing the Bears Campaign is important because students at Berkeley already have so much on their plate and the last thing they should have to worry about is where they're going to spend the night. The Basic Needs Center is a major step in providing for all Berkeley students. Bears care for each other!"

There are 20 days left and our club members are currently promoting this campaign on our Instagram (@calstudentphilanthropy) and TikTok (@calstudentphilanthropy), as well as on their personal social media accounts. One of ours representatives, Aimen Naveed ‘25, shares that this cause is important to her because “every student deserves to have access to basic essentials, such as housing, in order to help them excel at their studies.”
