NATIONALS HERE WE COME!

Send Cal Women’s Club Soccer to Nationals!!

Celebrating a win at Nationals in Alabama

With the new season ahead of us, we need your support more than ever to help our team get to Nationals! A few years ago we had one of the most successful Crowdfunding campaigns everWill you help us set a record?

The Women's Club Soccer Team was founded back in 1995 and our club has been going strong ever since. Our team is entirely student-run and organized. All aspects of the team, from coaching to scheduling to fundraising to travel, are coordinated by our student club officers. Learn about a few of these leaders in the bios section!

Today, our program boasts two teams and over 40 players.  In the fall and spring, all of our players train and compete against other top teams in California and on the west coast.  Our A team competes in the West Coast Soccer Association (WCSA) Premier League, and our B team in the WCSA Second League. We host tryouts at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters--attracting talent from all over the world who are pursuing their studies at UC Berkeley.  Every fall season we strive to compete in the NIRSA Regionals (SLO) and the National Tournament (Phoenix, AZ or Foley, AL). In past years, we’ve also competed in the UCLA tournament, San Diego Aztec Tournament, and the Santa Barbara Tournament.

Unfortunately, competing isn't cheap; every year we collect dues from our players to help cover expenses like uniforms and equipment, league and tournament fees, and travel costs (gas, rental cars, flights, hotels). To make competitive soccer more accessible, we rely on support from the community to support the program and players. This campaign is primarily focused on making it financially possible for us to send a team to Nationals! Our players appreciate any and all of your support.

More About Our History

We traveled to our first out-of-state tournament in Colorado during our 2002-2003 season and this was also the first time we attended Nationals! In 2004 we were the West Coast Regional Champions and National Quarter-Finalists. Two years later, in 2006, we reached the Quarter-Finals of Nationals. In 2007, our team placed second in the Open Bracket at Nationals, and went on to suffer a heartbreaking loss in the quarterfinals at Nationals in 2009. In 2010 we fought our way to the Final of the Nationals Open Bracket in Arizona but tragically lost.

The Cal Women's Soccer club went to the National Open Bracket Finals in Fall 2011, placing second just behind Mizzou. We went on to win the 2012 Spring League Cup. In Fall 2012 at Nationals in Memphis, Tennessee, we advanced the farthest in our 17-year history, placing 17th in the nation in the Championship Bracket.

Since Spring 2016 our team has held the 1st place position in the WCSA league; claiming the title for five consecutive seasons. The teams also became finalists at the 2017 UCLA Tournament, and qualified for the Elite 8 of the NIRSA Open Bracket at Nationals.

Since being established in 1995 Cal Women's Club Soccer has become a force to be reckoned with in NIRSA club soccer. GO BEARS!!
