Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Cal Sailing Team is a student-run, non-profit, self-funded organization that operates a competitive year-round team. We practice out of the Treasure Island Sailing Center, right next to the Bay Bridge, three times a week as well as competing throughout both California and the nation against other club and Varsity teams. We are continually looking to expand our skills and continue the Corinthian spirit at Cal.
As we aspire to maintain a consistent competitive edge and make nationals, we need and value your support in helping us continue to build our sailing program. Since we receive minimal financial support from the university, we rely on your kind donations to pay regatta entrance fees, cover travel costs, maintain our fleet, and fund various other costs crucial to keeping our team sailing each year. On top of these yearly costs, our 19-year-old boats are wearing down, and repairs take a toll on the team's time, energy, and resources, and we aspire to purchase new boats when funds and opportunity allow. Additionally, we are no longer able to tow our trailer due to changes in the school guidelines for rental vehicles, and we may need to purchase a team car in the near future to avoid the accumulation of charter fees. How can your donation help?
The Cal Sailing Team is fundraising for a new fleet of secondhand boats to replace our 19-year-old fleet. This would provide much better practice conditions, allowing our team to practice on boats that are equal with our competition, and would also allow the Cal Sailing Team to host larger regattas such as nationals. Help us reach our goal so we can improve Cal Sailing.
Here is a snapshot of looming expenses we need your help with:
- New fleet: $100,000
- Team Car: $10,000
- TISC Facilities: $4000/yr
- Travel Costs: $3000/yr
- Conference Fees: $2000/yr
- Powerboat Gas: $300/yr
- Fleet and Storage Container Maintenance: $500/yr
