Last week, Monbiot published another scathing column on ME/CFS. Yesterday, he and I discussed the "cruel and bizarre cult" that runs the UK's Science Media Centre and has propagated now-discredited views about the causes of and treatmens for the disease. Here's the interview.
Meanwhile, October's crowdfunding campaign has reached 67% of the goal with more than 330 donations, with six days left. If you'd like to continue to support my work, here's the link: https://crowdfund.berkeley.edu/project/43450

With eight days left in May, the crowdfunder is entering the final stretch. At 60%, it is well within reach of the final goal. In past years, the trajectory has been similar.

To mark the day, I have reposted my interview with George Monbiot, the Guardian columnist and political activist, who has slammed the biopsychosocial school for its egregiously poor research and harmful approach to this illness. For those who have difficulty with videos, here's a text version.

Earlier this year, I wrote a long piece for Codastory.com about Maeve Boothby O'Neill, a young English woman who died two years ago from complications of ME after more than a decade of struggling with her illness. The family has now been waiting more than two years for a formal inquest. The coroner has finally called a preliminary meeting for later this month. I hope to be able to attend in person when the full inquest is held.

Dear Past Supporter of Trial By Error: Usually I've done a fall crowdfunding in October; this year, it's in November. I really appreciate all the support I've received over the years. I hope donors feel they've received a good return on their investment in my Berkeley project. (Donations are tax-deductible to US taxpayers.) I learned this week that a letter rebutting inflated claims about the prevalence of functional neurological disorder has been accepted for publication in the journal NeuroImage: Clinical. You can read a pre-print of the letter here. I have spent a fair amount of time trying to counter published misinformation about this issue, so I'm glad an accurate account will soon be available in the medical literature. Thanks much! It has meant a lot to me that I have been able to continue with this project for the last few years through the generosity of the patient and advocacy communities.--David
I blogged about that on Friday. On Monday I blogged about the CLoCk study of Long Covid in kids--a project involving, among others, Professor Esther Crawley, Bristol University's methodologically and ethically challenged pediatrician and grant magnet.

This month's Berkeley crowdfunding has so far received more than 100 donations and reached 13% of the goal. As usual, the most donations--39--are from the UK, with 28 from the US, 15 from Norway, and others here and there.
On Friday, I posted a follow-up to my earlier post about a problematic new JAMA study that provides fodder for those seeking to minimize long Covid. The follow-up discusses the study's links to Recovery Norway, a group associated with the "mind-body" training called the Lightning Process. The study also seeks to resuscitate the zombie Fukuda case definition for CFS from 1994, which has been largely abandoned.

Thanks much to all! The month of October has ended, and so has this crowdfunding campaign, which surpassed its goal on the last day. Going forward, I plan to send out occasional updates and links to my posts and articles...
(Please ignore the verbiage about donating that is automatically added below to this update. The campaign is over.)
