Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Student Parent Center (SPC) remains committed to supporting our students beyond the turbulence of parenthood and classes, combined.
Our student parents have, once again, proven that their collective commitment to academic excellence will not be derailed by extenuating circumstances. We have witnessed their capacity to navigate complex situations with adaptability while balancing the unique challenges of parenthood during the pandemic.
The Student Parent Center has increased its impact by revising our academic support platform, improving our holistic student support services, retaining 60% of our student employees, and hiring a new Student Parent Success Counselor.
This year, we extended the contract of our clinical mental health and family support services provided by our SPC Wellness Counselor. This was a key moment for our program, as we recognized the need for the continuity of our mental health services in the wake of the pandemic.
Student Parent Highlights:
Berkeley student parents continue to prove that parenting responsibilities need not be a barrier to academic success. Parenting often serves as a catalyst that empowers students to utilize the SPC in ways that help them overcome barriers.
Project Description:
This project is to support a pilot program service to support incoming and graduating student parents with common costs associated with entering and concluding, their UC Berkeley experience. Often times, the cost of transitioning into and out of campus student family housing, can blindside students who are already at-capacity on all other levels.
Our Goal:
The Student Parent Center is planning to raise $2500.00 to support 10 student parents with the mandatory cost of 250.00, which serves as the security deposit needed to move into family student housing at UC Berkeley. We are also planning to raise and additional $2500.00, which will support another 5 student parents with awards of 500.00 to go towards moving costs once they have graduated and begin to transition out of UC Berkeley student family housing.
We have a minimum ask of $50.00 and hope to have you with us as we reach our goal of Strengthening the Student Parent experience at UC Berkeley!
