The Bay Area Writing Project (BAWP) is based at the Berkeley School of Education. It is an organization focused on expanding writing at all grade levels and in all disciplines. For nearly 50 years, BAWP has supported teachers, schools, and students to use writing to communicate, explore, create, learn, and connect.
During the summers, BAWP offers a wide variety of exciting writing opportunities for youth. These camps and courses highlight writing genres and topics beyond what is typically offered in schools. Some of this year’s offerings include: Science Fiction Journey: Exploring Space and Time; Superhuman: Marvel at Our Universe; Fan Fiction; Introduction to Journalism; College Essay Writing, Afrofuturism is Now! and; Writing for Chills: How to Craft Scary Stories.

Support Scholarships for Young Writers in Need of Funding
This is your call to action - help us bring strong writing instruction to local youth. Each year we direct 10% of our programming income to provide youth with scholarships to writing programs and camps offered during summer and after school. Help us expand our reach so we can write with those furthest from opportunity. Help us reach our goal to fully sponsor four young writers–Donate today!
A donation at any amount will help us expand the gift of writing workshops for our youngest scholars.
