Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Intermission Orchestra at Berkeley is UC Berkeley’s premiere anime, video game, and film orchestra. We perform throughout the Bay Area to share our passions with our local communities. As a group funded through private sources, we depend on the generosity of our donors.
Throughout the academic year, Intermission practices twice a week to rehearse orchestra music and prepare our ensemble performances for our Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts. We have always held these concerts for free for the community because we believe that the sharing of music should have no limits and are driven to demonstrate the unifying force of experiencing live music performances. Our group also encompasses artists, photographers, videographers, and audio staff, all who help make our concerts and activities possible.
Outside of preparing for our seasonal concerts, members of the Intermission Orchestra perform at events local to the Cal campus, like Cal Animage Alpha’s annual anime conventions, as well as throughout the Bay, including Japanese cultural events, and in collaboration with libraries and hospitals and weddings for fellow anime/game/film enthusiasts! Through all these opportunities, we have been able to grow as musicians and artists, and spread a sense of community within our organization and beyond. We hope to continue serving our communities, as well as reach towards bigger and brighter stages to share our passion for anime, game, and film music.
We are grateful for the opportunities we have had so far to share our music and serve our communities. As we pass through Intermission’s 5th Anniversary this fall, we are working to book a larger venue for our end-of-year Spring concert to allow for more of the community to join us. Furthermore, to deliver a higher quality of performances at our concerts, we hope to upgrade our sound equipment to provide the best audio experience at our concerts, as well as upgrade our photography and video equipment to improve our content for the community to engage with us even when they can’t attend our performances in person. Beyond that, we hope to be able to support our members by subsidizing transportation costs to perform at venues anywhere throughout the Bay. We have even grander visions of one day being able to travel throughout California, the US, and even internationally to show our appreciation for anime, games, and film music that are a worldwide phenomenon. In order to continue growing, we ask for the generosity of individuals so we may perform at new venues, travel to entertain new fans, and upgrade our equipment. As the Intermission Orchestra continues to grow and spread our outreach around the world, we strive to use our performance opportunities and new equipment to teach members new skills and build their repertoire as musicians.
During this campaign, we really hope you can join us on this new chapter of the Intermission Orchestra’s journey! Through your support, we hope to raise at least $2,500 to support our members traveling to performances throughout the Bay, new audio and video equipment for our staff, and venues like Hertz Hall for our seasonal concerts.
