Our Crowdfunding Groups
Welcome to our month-long crowdfunding effort to support The Cameron Institute for Student-Athlete Development at the University of California, Berkeley. We hope to raise $25,000 in the month of October from our loyal alumni, student-athlete parents, Golden Bear Network Members, and everyone in between!
The Cameron Institute is a world-class model for growth and achievement in Intercollegiate Athletics. The institute is guided by the vision of positioning 900 student-athletes to perform to their full potential and thrive for a lifetime through The California Way model. Launched in Fall of 2020, the Cameron Institute was founded thanks to a generous $12.5 million endowment established by C. Bryan Cameron. Led by an 12-person team grounded in the values of excellence, trust, growth, and clarity, the Cameron Institute strives to be an exemplary student-athlete development model within Cal Athletics and college athletics departments throughout the country.
The California Way is delivered through high-impact specialized services across three pillars: Career Development, Community Engagement & Partnerships, and Mental Performance & Leadership Development. The services are delivered in the following formats: : 1:1 Advising/Consultation, Small Group & Team Sessions, Experiences, and asynchronously through Online Platforms: The Golden Bear Network, Community Engagement Hub, and the Calm app. Services are delivered to meet or exceed the expectations of student-athletes and coaches and are guided by an exceptional group of practitioners from various backgrounds and professional experiences.

A $10 donation covers the cost of 1 calm app subscription for a student-athletes or coach. The Calm App is an industry-leading app to support sleep, meditation, mental fitness, lowering anxiety and stress, and building resiliency.
The Mental Performance & Leadership Development Pillar utilizes technology to track, measure, and enhance mental performance and cognition. A $30 gift covers the cost of one student-athlete's technology for the year.
A gift of $150 will cover the cost of a DiSC Assessment for 10 student-athletes. A DiSC assessment is a behavior-assessment tool that aims to help our student-athletes understand their leadership styles and improve teamwork. A post-DiSC assessment report shows scores in various dimensions, provides insights into personality, and suggests tactics for increased effectiveness.
Cal Student Athlete Led Organization (SALO’s) are by and for Cal Student-Athletes - designed to build community and belonging, and provide opportunities for positive social, educational, and community growth and impact for members and the larger Cal and Bay Area community around specific areas of interest and identity. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee supports Cal Athletics’ strategic plan priority of creating an exceptional Student-Athlete Experience and serves as a conduit to Cal Athletics Student-Athlete Led Organizations. Support an initiative led by Cal's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee or Student-Athlete Led Organizations.
The Cameron Institute offers mentorship programs to junior, senior, 5th-year, and graduate student-athletes. The different programs are intended to provide student-athletes with several options to pursue mentorship that fits their goals, interests, and schedule. Each program will connect a student-athlete to a mentor who can provide insight and knowledge on career development and provide support throughout the process. A gift of $1,600 covers the annual expenses associated with the mentorship programs.
