UC Berkeley Men's Club Water Polo is a highly competitive team composed of around 25 students. During our competitive season, which runs from September through November, we practice for over eight hours each week in addition to competing in biweekly tournaments for the latter month and a half of the season.
We are members of the hotly contested Sierra Pacific Division, which comprises nine teams hailing from across Northern California, including rivals Stanford and UC Davis, and from which the top team qualifies for nationals. Having emerged as division champions for eleven straight years from 2012 through 2019 (2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic) and 2021–2023. After clinching yet another Sierra Pacific Division with a 14-5 win over Chico State, the Bears are heading to nationals with the goal of bringing home the schools first club championship!
All of the tournaments we attend require some kind of travel, and the 2023 National Championship Tournament, in particular, will be held in Salt Lake City this year, necessitating a costly trek. Because of the costs incurred by tournament travel, a Crowdfunding effort would be enormously beneficial in helping us sustain the level of success we've worked hard to achieve over the last eleven years. It would aid us in making tournament play more accessible to all of our team members and in funding our coach's travel to the tournaments.
Additionally, Crowdfunding would help us cover league fees, pool time, equipment costs, and our coach's salary. We intend to use the funds we raise in the following ways:
- Tournament Lodging: $2500 (62.5%)
- Pool Time: $500 (12.5%)
- Travel Fees: $500 (25.0%)
Being a relatively small club sports team, every member of the UC Berkeley Men's Club Water Polo team is dedicated and invested in the team. We are all very proud of the program's past success and even more excited about what the future holds, especially with the financial assistance that crowdfunding would provide.
We need your help and support to push the team toward our fundraising goals. Please share this page and keep up with what we are doing on our Facebook page @UC Berkeley Men’s Club Water Polo and our Instagram page @calmensclubwaterpolo!
We thank you for your time and support! GO BEARS!!!
