Design Build Fly @ Berkeley is a student team that develops an aircraft each year to compete in the annual Design/Build/Fly (DBF), a competition under AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics). The team completes multiple checkpoints throughout the year to move on to the on-site competition against a hundred other teams that test vehicle performance and flight capabilities through a series of tests and missions.
Throughout the year, students will gain experience in design and CAD; simulations, testing, and analysis; manufacturing; business, media, and outreach; and much more. Our students gain hands-on experience that apply concepts from classes in the context of aircraft.
As a new organization, members of the team have shown dedication to not only designing and building a well-designed and competitive aircraft, but also to building a successful team setup for the coming years.
Here is a breakdown of how funds will be allocated if we reach our goal ($5K):
We plan to have an extended project goal of $10K, which would then double our budget in each category. We constantly strive to create a space for learning, growth, and innovation where students of all backgrounds get applied, real-world experiences they can take with them beyond the club. We greatly thank you for your time and consideration in supporting us in creating such an environment.
