About the Political Science Opportunity Scholarship

Welcome to the Political Science Opportunity Scholarship Donation Page!

According to the U.S. Office of Postsecondary Education, the University of California, Berkeley educates a high number of low-income students relative to its student body, highlighted especially in comparison to other universities. The Iota Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha aims to bridge the gap in need-based resources for political science students, creating the Political Science Opportunity Scholarship, one of the only need-based scholarships specific to the promotion of political science studies. If it is within your capacity, donations of any amount are welcome. Please consider joining this initiative and helping to propel deserving undergraduate students to reach their academic aspirations and achieve their highest potential!

How Will Your Funds Be Used?

Every penny from this crowdfunding campaign will be included in the Political Science Opportunity Fund which will sponsor present and future cohorts of political science undergraduate scholars at UC Berkeley! All funds will be distributed to the Department of Political Science, who, in partnership with the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office, will administer and determine eligible students with financial need. We, as students, will not have a role in choosing the recipients. 

For every $250 raised, a need-based award is made available to deserving students who can propel the study of political science. Thanks to generous donors last year, the 2023 inaugural cohort of Opportunity Scholarship recipients were Mel Britt (Class of 2023), Andrew Neciuk (Class of 2024), and Sundus Khan (Class of 2023).
