The Avant-Garde is alive and well at Cal!

Aglet Noise Collective, a bull in the heather, a home for the avant-garde curious and DIY-inclined, was started in 2023 to put on live music, performance art and create visual media like films and art installations. Members come together from different artistic backgrounds to put on showcases, distribute music and make experimental films. Notably, on last Halloween, we hosted a wide hotpot of experimental musicians, and premiered our films and an art installation in a two-staged music/arts festival in Berkeley. We were able to fundraise over $2,500 for Palestine and Sudan relief funds! This was our biggest event yet with over 300 persons at peak, allowing us to disseminate our abstract-art approach to more and more people.

But we rely on funding from our friends(you!) and the university to help pay performers and artists, as well as keep equipment of speakers and electronics required for shows. We plan to host some exciting shows this spring. Performers include noise-music royalty Ryosuke Kiyasu, east cost hardcore band Chemical X and many more throughout the Spring! BUT we need your support to be able to continue bringing such artists to Berkeley and expand our mission. 

That's why we're aiming to raise $1,000; so we can bring more cool artists, update our sound and light equipment and make CDs of our members' music! Out of the funds:

1. $400 will be pledged to paying artists a fair fee in the 2026-27 academic year. Along with ticket sales, we use this money to book artists. We follow a collective system of payment where each artist/band receives the same amount at a show given their time performed!
2. $300 will be reserved for buying and fixing our sound/visual equipment. We are currently in need of good-quality, long-distance microphone cables. In the past we've relied on members' cables but that leads to inconsistent qualities of sound.
3. Another $300 will be reserved for producing our members art only. This would include the pressing of CDs, publishing of 'zines and any other miscellaneous expenses we might incur in the production of Aglet Noise's art.
