AIAS Fundraising Mission
Our Mission
The mission of The American Institute of Architecture Students is to empower architecture students by providing opportunities of creativity and collaboration outside of the classroom. Through workshops, design competitions, and conferences, our goal is to help students feel connected within the architecture community and help them develop necessary design and collaboration skills. While directly supporting event costs and materials for the year, this fundraiser will also support our two biggest initiatives of the year, which are producing and publishing the 4th issue of TRACE, our student-led design publication that highlights the incredible work that UC Berkeley architecture students have created, and our annual Design Competition.

Since the events we host on a regular basis require funding, we plan to use the funds immediately when we receive them. These funds will be used throughout the semester to host workshops and social events so students can continue to feel connected in the architecture community. Our events provide architecture students at Berkeley the opportunity to gain connections at events, such as Firm Tours or Practice Previews, led by well-known Architects or Professors who were invited to share their experience in the field and provide students with advice on how to tackle constraints they may face in the future.
Our project provides UC Berkeley architecture students with more opportunities to collaborate and share their work with a larger audience. Our workshops and annual design competitions can give students an insight into real-world architecture experience, while conferences allow students to connect with architecture students outside of UC Berkeley. If we are not able to reach our full goal, we will still move forward with our projects, but at a smaller scale. We may need to adjust the number of workshops and social events we host, but our mission to support architecture students' creativity and collaboration will still continue!

Budget Breakdown
We expect our budget to remain similar as the previous school year, which is listed below. Our funding went to hosting design workshops, preparing for design competitions, printing and distribution of our student-led Trace Magazine, school supplies, professional social and networking events, and AIAS dues.
- 45% Design Competition
- 22.8% Publication / Printing
- 19.4% Supplies / Merch
- 7.9% Networking Events
- 4.9% AIAS Chapter Dues
All estimates are rough only, and actual expenditures may vary.
As a professional organization whose events rely heavily on funding, we hope to continue our initiative of supporting architecture students, and would like to thank all donors for making all these amazing professional events possible.
