New goal of $2,500! Thank you all so much for your support! With your support we are confident that the Rimalower Prize will bring historically marginalized perspectives, voices, and identities to the stage this year! We're hoping to keep the momentum going and raise $2,500 to help us create an even better Rimalower Prize. Additional funds will help subsidize operational expenses, such as, but not limited to, upgrading our CRH speaker system, sound board, and microphones!
We are also happy to announce that we have completed the deliberations for the Rimalower prize! We will be putting on Jump written by Charly Evon Simpson. The show will be directed by Kalyan Piovesan Toussaint, a sophomore pursuing a simultaneous degree in Theater & Performance Studies and Mechanical Engineering! BareStage Productions is the oldest and largest student-run theatre company at UC Berkeley. We are dedicated to providing student actors, directors, writers, musicians, and designers with the opportunity to practice their craft in a supportive, inclusive, and pre-professional environment.

Traditionally, BareStage Productions puts on four "Mainstage" productions, a musical and a play each semester! We are especially committed to empowering underrepresented voices and presenting diverse stories that reflect the vibrancy of our community.
What's New?
This year, we are launching an exciting new initiative: The Rimalower Prize, named after BareStage’s founder Ben Rimalower! This prize will support a fifth annual production dedicated to celebrating marginalized perspectives, voices, and identities on stage. Funds raised will directly cover the costs of producing this additional show, such as show rights, set and costume materials, and technical equipment. With your support, we can bring The Rimalower Prize to life and ensure that Berkeley students continue to have an artistic home where all voices are celebrated!

Why This Matters
Contemporary revolutionary theatre doesn’t always align with the structure of BareStage’s Mainstage season, which is why The Rimalower Prize creates a dedicated space for student theatre productions that uplift underrepresented stories within our community. By demonstrating its success in its first year, we hope to establish it as an annual tradition that advances equity in theater, one show at a time.

Budget
- Show Rights - $1000
- Sets - $500
- Costumes - $300
- Props - $150
- Lights/Sound/General - $50
These amounts are based on averages from previous years. Estimates are rough only, and actual expenditures may vary.
Given we do not reach the funding goal we will still host The Rimalower Prize to the best of our ability! It may need to be a shorter production and at a smaller capacity.

We will have the cast and crew of one show of your choice sign a program specially for you! This can be picked up in person or mailed.
