Who Are We?

CalTV is the premier source of news, entertainment, and cinematic content for all things UC Berkeley! We started as a student-run television station in 2005 and have been dedicated to broadcasting the best content that Cal has to deliver ever since. Our four departments: News, Entertainment, Studios, and Marketing, aim to give you the inside scoop on relevant topics within the University community and the wider Bay Area. As a group of passionate content creators, we are always in need of professional production equipment. Access to high-quality gear allows our club to produce equally high-quality content that we have been delivering for years.

As the organization continues to grow, we hope to make more accessible opportunities for not just our members but also the creative community on campus. From work spaces to gear, high-level content creation can be daunting to start but we hope to change that!

Why Donate?

This year, we are taking our production heights to new levels. Our dedicated team of directors and members are creating relevant, informative, entertaining, and cinematic videos this semester such as:

An exclusive interview with English DJ Fatboy Slim
A CalTV x Air Bears skydiving video (yes, one of our directors jumped out of a plane for this!)
Various news stories about hot-button campus events
Three short films of different genres thanks to our Studios Department
An official brand video to strengthen partnerships and industry opportunities to our members

We are asking for your help in raising funds to continue providing our members and directors with the opportunity to take their production to new levels that are typically not accessible to the average college student!

Our Budget Breakdown

All estimates are rough only, and actual expenditures may vary!

With your help, we plan to use 100% of all funds raised for purchases such as:

Gear for our Black Magic Cinema Cameras
Interview Microphones for our News Department
Support for our yearly revived Film Festival; The Oski's — the Oscars of UC Berkeley
Tripods
Batteries
Host Alumni Networking Event
And of course, more cameras!

Every dollar raised goes directly toward supporting our members and productions throughout Spring 2026. If we do not reach our $1,200 goal, we will still allocate funds according to the breakdown outlined. Every contribution helps us move forward, and we will continue to create with the resources available.

Our community is continuously growing and with this expansion comes the responsibility to ensure that CalTV remains an accessible, welcoming, and resource-rich space for students passionate about media. By donating, you are helping us equip the next generation of filmmakers, journalists, and creators with the tools and experiences they need to thrive.
