Danceworx: Help Student Dancers Take the Stage

Danceworx is the oldest student-run dance organization at UC Berkeley. Our mission is to provide an outlet for dancers to perform, learn and improve technique, and pursue their passion in a fun and supportive environment. We offer four different styles: contemporary, jazz, open (different types of hip-hop), and tap (only org on campus that offers this!). Every semester, we receive a greater turnout of dancers, which has led us to the grand Zellerbach Hall stage to perform all of our student-choreographed pieces. 

Through this fundraiser, you will help fund our end-of-semester showcase at Zellerbach Hall, enhance technique through workshops featuring Bay Area dancers, and foster community through our mentorship program. Because we are a student-run organization, the majority of our funding comes from the community around us, specifically people who have benefitted from being part of the Danceworx family. Whether you have encountered Danceworx as a dancer, a family member, or friend of a Danceworx dancer, we would love and appreciate any donations/support to help us hold our showcase and make sure that all of our dedicated dancers get a chance to present what they are working toward all semester. Help keep Cal Bears dancing!

With your help subsidizing our costs, Danceworx will be one of two student-run dance organizations on campus that have the privilege to perform at Zellerbach. This opportunity not only benefits our own members but also gives smaller dance groups on campus the chance to shine on stage as guest performers at our showcase.

Anticipated costs for the semester:

• Zellerbach Hall: $24,856
• Practice Spaces: $4,271
• Mentorship: $200

Danceworx will use the funds raised to pay for our fall Zellerbach showcase; we receive the invoice and pay for the venue in January. If the funds exceed the expense, the rest will go toward paying for practice spaces.

If we are unable to reach our goal, the funds raised will still significantly benefit Danceworx; however, we will have to increase the out-of-pocket costs per members by raising dues and showcase ticket prices. Any support from our community will have a positive impact and make our performance an accessible one.
