Support STAC!

Join us in sending UC Berkeley to space and beyond! By supporting STAC, you’re not just donating to a club—you’re investing in the future of space exploration and the next generation of space pioneers.

Space Technologies at Cal (STAC) is a student-run engineering organization at the University of California, Berkeley with 100+ highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students focused on developing innovative space technologies and research. We are creating a collaborative student space platform, incorporating multiple research labs and industry partners, to enable research projects such as microgravity experiments, a CubeSat qualifying and testing a quantum gyroscope, an Autonomous Lunar Rover project, space bioengineering for astronaut health, and a jumping robot for exploring lunar landscapes.

As student researchers, scientists, and engineers, we aim to push the frontier of space innovation with each of our projects and provide valuable experience for our members. With QubeSat launching to the ISS next year and TIME II launching with Blue Origin this winter, STAC is eager to send UC Berkeley to space and beyond!

In addition to innovating and working on cool projects, STAC is committed to energizing the UC Berkeley aerospace community. In 2022, we hosted the third Space Tech Symposium @ Berkeley, with over 200 attendees from all corners of the Bay Area space community. Our events' past speakers have included CEOs and Co-founders of companies like Planet, Astra, Google's Project Loon, Astranis, NASA and UC Berkeley researchers, and investors from venture capital firms. We're committed to continuing our annual tradition of bringing together the best and brightest in space.

Funds will be used support team manufacturing efforts. We are currently developing an AI Rover, jumping lunar robots, biopharmaceuticals for astronauts, among other projects, all of which require funding for development to continue!

Our projects aim to allow Berkeley students to work on real-world challenges related to space research. These experiences build fundamental technical and interpersonal skills and encourage innovative problem-solving. By achieving our goals, we hope to inspire future space research and foster a community that values collaboration and technological advancement, making a lasting impact both academically and in the broader field of space exploration.

Funds will go toward manufacturing materials, makerspace passes, payload launch costs, and other engineering related expenses.

All money raised will go directly to our manufacturing costs and expenses with any amount helping us in the development of our space technologies! Thank you for helping us reach for the stars!

Budget Breakdown (All estimates are rough only, and actual expenditures may vary.)

All $2500 will go to manufacturing costs for our projects

  • Wiring and steel pieces so our projects can survive extreme space environments.
  • Paying for lab space and lab equipment.
    • Some of our teams have a biologic aspect which requires work in a BSL2 laboratory.
    • This money will go to paying for their bacterial strains, components for solutions, and renting the lab  space.
  • If we exceed our goal, we will be able to sponsor more teams and pay for more metallic parts.
    • We will be able to recruit more members of the student body and grow our club!
    • The quality of our projects would be prioritized.
      • We would be able to buy more complicated circuitry and higher quality design material.
  • If we do not meet our goal:
    • We will prioritize improving the quality of projects we currently have.
      Any donation is greatly appreciated!
