The Intermission Orchestra

The Intermission Orchestra is dedicated to bringing your favorite film, video game, and anime music to life! Our club has expanded greatly over the years, and we have many different positions that strive to keep putting on our free concerts every semester. From musicians, audio staff, photo/video staff, art staff, and our new YouTube staff positions, our members work hard to continue bringing the beloved music to the community. Our fundraising proceeds will go towards keeping our concerts free, booking concert venues, and obtaining the necessary equipment to make our concerts and gigs happen. We plan on using these funds to rent our concert venues for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. If we meet our goal, this project will allow our club to keep our concerts free and continue playing the music we love. It will also allow us to purchase quality audio equipment, which will help in creating the best possible sound for our performances and our YouTube video recordings. We intend to use the funds donated to us to rent concert venues, purchase quality audio and recording equipment, and rent and buy instruments to use in our music. If our goal is not met, the funds will still go towards renting venues for our concerts or purchasing needed instruments and equipment.

About Us

The Intermission Orchestra at Berkeley is a student-run organization dedicated to building a community for film, game, and anime enthusiasts and sharing our passions with the Cal community and broader Bay area through our music and performances. As a group funded through private sources, we depend on the generosity of our donors.

Our Goals

We are grateful for the opportunities we have had so far to share our music and serve our communities. As we pass through Intermission’s 7th Anniversary this fall, we are working to book a larger venue for our end-of-year Spring concert to allow for more of the community to join us. Furthermore, to deliver a higher quality of performances at our concerts, we hope to upgrade our sound equipment to provide the best audio experience at our concerts, as well as upgrade our photography and video equipment to improve our content for the community to engage with us, even when they can’t attend our performances in person. Our brand new video post-production team has been hard at work editing and audio mastering our old concert videos to upload to our YouTube channel, and new equipment will ease this process for future concerts! Beyond that, we hope to be able to support our members by subsidizing transportation costs to perform at venues anywhere throughout the Bay. We have even grander visions of one day being able to travel throughout California, the US, and even internationally to show our appreciation for film, video games, and anime music that are a worldwide phenomenon. In order to continue growing, we ask for the generosity of individuals so we may perform at new venues, travel to entertain new fans, upgrade our equipment, and find even more ways to connect our love for music with our community. As the Intermission Orchestra continues to grow and spread our outreach around the world, we strive to use our performance opportunities and new equipment to teach members new technical skills and build their repertoire as musicians.

During this campaign, we really hope you can join us on this new chapter of the Intermission Orchestra’s journey! Through your support, we hope to raise at least $4,000: $700 to support new audio and video equipment for our performances, $2000 to book Hertz Hall and other venues for our concerts, $300 to subsidize costs for traveling, and $1,000 to help us buy new instruments for our members to use. This is a rough estimate and actual expenditures may vary. If we are unable to reach our goal, the funds we have raised will still go towards purchasing necessary equipment and instruments so that members can have access to valuable resources and so we are able to create new and inspiring music for the community around us to enjoy. It is valuable to us that each of our members has an opportunity to learn and gain enriching experience in the arts of music, audio engineering, art, photography, or video editing, so we would use these funds to purchase equipment, instruments, and training for member use. Your donations will help make dreams come true for a one-of-kind community of musicians, artists, audio engineers, photographers, videographers, and film, game, and anime enthusiasts!
