Pilipinx Cultural Night 50th Anniversary

About Us

The Pilipino American Alliance also known as PAA is a student group on UC Berkeley's campus. The mission statement of PAA stands to "serve and interact with the Pilipinx community, to promote a network of social support through the encouragement of political action, academic excellence, and cultural awareness while celebration cultural diversity." To this end, PAA facilitates student-run classes, cultural workshops, peer mentorship, scholarships, social activities, and an annual cultural show to celebrate Pilipinx culture with the help of both the UC Berkeley PAA community and local Pilipinx businesses.

PCN 50: Creative Team

Pilipinx Cultural Night

PCN, or Pilipinx Cultural Night, is a student-run theatrical production hosted by UC Berkeley's Pilipinx American Alliance. When PCN first began, it was not a complete theatrical play with complex transitions, integrations, and multiple creative components, but a humble community dinner held at the YWCA on Bancroft and Bowditch in Berkeley, CA. There, students performed cultural dances, ate, socialized, and created a space dedication to celebrating themselves as Pilipinx in the diaspora. PCN has always been a part of our platform against the Eurocentric curriculum in higher education, an act of solidarity with the TWLF, and a space where Pilipinx creatives are able to share their unique experiences of what it means to be Pilipinx in America.

PCN 49: Protesting Scene

The, now fully theatrical, production allows participants to explore their Pilipinx identity through creative mediums such as (cultural) dance, acting, and music. By holding PCN every year, we hope to provide a creative space for our cast to learn and grow. At Berkeley, we also choose to use PCN as a platform for activism and education on Pilipinx history, culture, and current issues.

This is a labor of love from our community, and we would be honored to have you be part of it. The funds we raise with Berkeley Crowdfunding will support the Pilipino American Alliance, with a current focus on producing the 50th Pilipinx Cultural Night (PCN). The average production costs of PCN are as follows:

Note: These are rough estimates and may be subject to change. All funds raised will go towards PCN 50's production costs regardless if the goal is met or not.
