Cal Club Golf | Fall 2025 Campaign

Team History & Structure:

Cal Club Golf began competing in NCCGA (National Collegiate Club Golf) tournaments in 2014 and has grown to be a team of ~30 players today. In 2018, the team made it to the NCCGA National Championship, and in Fall 2019, the team had the lowest unadjusted scoring average in the nation. With rapidly rising costs post-pandemic, participating in NCCGA tournaments has become unaffordable, so the team is currently focused on offering weekly practices for its members. Our main competitions are now just annual matches against local club teams at Santa Clara University and Stanford University. These practices, matches, and all team affairs are fully funded by member dues, as we do not receive any funding from the university, which has become a significant challenge for our team.

Why support Cal Club Golf?

Our goal with this year's campaign is to compete in NCCGA tournaments at an affordable cost to our players. We want to offer our players the opportunity to compete by subsidizing tournament fees as much as possible and enable their best performance by supporting more frequent practices and competitions. Most importantly, increased funding will allow us to provide these opportunities to more players and offer the opportunity to compete to as many students as possible. Ultimately, our dream is to become a nationally competitive club team and offer our golfers the most opportunities to compete at a high level, all at a reasonable cost!

Budget Breakdown:

Based on budget estimates, we expect to spend about $11,000 this semester. Around 75% of our dues go towards green fees, while the rest of the money is used towards social events and merchandise. However, in past years, we have not been able to afford all the costs of participating in the NCCGA tournaments using our club funds. This would require around $5000 to cover everything using club funding, which includes team registration, tournament entry fees, practice costs, transportation, lodging, and food. Our goal is to be able to send a full team to these tournaments, which is 8 players. Ideally, we would be able to field multiple 8 player teams (A, B, and/or C teams) to represent Berkeley to its fullest potential.

If we don't meet our fundraising goal, all of the proceeds of this campaign will subsidize practice and competition as much as possible. We would host other fundraisers and as a last resort, ask our players to pay out of pocket to cover the difference. However, if we surpass our goal, we would be able to host our own tournaments and give our players even more bonding experiences with the team through more social events and practice time.
