Cricket Club of Berkeley: A Legacy of Excellence

The Cal Cricket Club was founded in Fall 2018 to meet the strong demand for cricket at UC Berkeley and create a professional student-run sports organization. The team proudly represents a diverse group of players from countries including Australia, Canada, the USA, Kenya, India, Pakistan, Singapore, and the UAE.

Since its inception, the club has grown into both a recreational and competitive force. Recreationally, students of all skill levels participate in weekly tennis-ball matches and the Cal Cricket Premier League. Competitively, the club has made its mark at the national level, winning the 2021 Regionals, reaching the finals in 2022, becoming National Champions in 2023, securing 3rd place at Nationals in 2024, and earning 2nd place in the 2025 All-California Tournament. Several players have represented USA U19 teams and even participated in ICC events.

Looking ahead, the team will continue competing in the National College Cricket Association (NCCA) tournaments, with regular practices, fitness training, and pro-team tryouts to strengthen its competitive edge. Alongside this, the club plans to expand its community presence through social events, collaborations across various on-campus organizations, and its cricket-focused DeCal course. Our fundraising project is focused on supporting the Cal Cricket Club’s participation in the National College Cricket Association (NCCA) Regionals and Nationals this year. Our primary goal is to build on our recent successes—including winning the 2023 National Championship, placing 3rd at Nationals in 2024, and finishing runners up in the 2025 All-California Tournament—by preparing and fielding a competitive squad for the upcoming tournaments.

Funds raised will go directly toward essential team expenses, including tournament registration fees, travel and lodging costs, uniforms, equipment, and practice facility rentals. By securing these resources, we can ensure that every player has the opportunity to represent UC Berkeley at the highest level of collegiate cricket, while continuing to grow the sport and community on campus. Funds also allow us to expand our involvement in upcoming leagues across the country as we are set to compete in more tournaments this year than in any year prior. 

Use of Funds: 

• Tournament registration fees (Regionals & Nationals): 20%
• Travel and lodging for players: 50%
• Uniforms and team gear: 15%
• Equipment and practice facility rentals: 10%
• Miscellaneous expenses (training, contingency): 5%

All estimates are rough only, and actual expenditures may vary.

If we are unable to reach our full goal, the funds raised will still be used to cover essential expenses such as registration fees and partial travel costs, ensuring that we can participate in Regionals and, if possible, Nationals. We will prioritize competition entry and team travel to make the project feasible.
