Help the Global Health Brigades Bring Healthcare for Communities In-need!
The mission of the Global Health Brigades at UC Berkeley is to expand access to essential healthcare services for underserved communities in Guatemala by partnering with local medical professionals to deliver free, high-quality care. Global Health Brigades prepares a dedicated team of 15–26 volunteers to travel to an underserved rural community in Guatemala for one week. Volunteers support the operation of a temporary clinic staffed by licensed physicians and community health care workers. The funds raised will directly support our upcoming medical brigade, helping cover the cost of medical supplies (such as blood pressure kits, gloves, bandages, gauze, etc.), hygiene packs, medications, bringing medical professionals, and transportation needs to run efficient clinic days in rural communities. Our clinic will consist of a space for triage, general consultations, OB/GYN check-ups, dental extractions, educational workshops, and a pharmacy.
Preparing/packaging medication packets prescribed to patients (post-consultations)
We are specifically fundraising for our 2026 summer service trip, during which our team will work alongside Guatemalan doctors to provide general consultations, public health education, medications, and dental care, all at no cost to patients. Every contribution goes toward making these services possible and ensuring we can reach as many families as possible.
We will use the funds in March and April to cover the essential costs needed to prepare for our service trip, scheduled for the first week of June.

If we meet our goal, we’ll be able to provide free medical care, health education, and essential resources to underserved communities in Guatemala who otherwise face major barriers to care. Because local hospitals and clinics are located far from the community, many patients have gone years, if not their entire lives, without receiving routine medical checkups.
We aim to return to the same communities each year, as this project allows us to support families in a sustainable manner, strengthen community health, and continue learning from the people we serve.
All funds will go directly to our Berkeley Medical Brigades Chapter Page, where they will be used to support our mission of providing accessible and affordable health care.
Feel free to visit the Global Medical Brigades website or reach out to the UC Berkeley Brigade Chapter Leader, Melina Bindra (melinab21@berkeley.edu), for any questions.
