The American Cancer Society (ACS) is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to ending cancer as we know it, for everyone. For over a century, ACS has driven lifesaving progress by funding groundbreaking cancer research, providing patient support programs, educating communities, and advocating for policies that improve the lives of people affected by cancer. Every step forward in prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship is made possible through the collective efforts of supporters, volunteers, and communities like ours.

One of the most powerful ways ACS brings communities together is through Relay for Life, a global movement that has united millions of people for over 40 years in the fight against cancer. Relay for Life is more than a fundraiser; it is a celebration of cancer survivors, a time to honor and remember loved ones lost, and a space where communities come together in solidarity, hope, and action. Each lap walked represents persistence. Each luminaria lit represents a story. Together, they remind us that no one faces cancer alone.

At UC Berkeley, Relay for Life creates a meaningful space for students, survivors, caregivers, and allies to come together and share their stories while raising awareness about cancer prevention, screening, and survivorship. It is a moment for our campus to pause, reflect, and take an active stand against a disease that has touched nearly every family in some way.

All estimates are rough only, and actual expenditures may vary.

If we do not reach our fundraising goal, all funds raised will still be used to support the most essential components of Relay for Life at UC Berkeley. Our team will continue fundraising efforts to secure the resources needed to ensure a successful event. If we surpass our goal, additional funds will be used to enhance the event through expanded activities, improved participant experiences, and additional survivor support elements, or saved to support future Relay for Life programming at UC Berkeley.
