Asian Community Health at Berkeley

Our Mission

Asian Community Health (ACH) is a student organization at UC Berkeley with a mission to ensure that every individual, regardless of linguistic or cultural background, can access the benefits of good health. We are dedicated to providing free healthcare services and resources to support Asian and limited English proficiency (LEP) communities in the Bay Area, serving as a bridge between these communities and the healthcare system. 

Our holistic health fairs feature stations for blood pressure, blood glucose, distance visual acuity, near vision acuity, peripheral vision, body mass index, wellness information, and health kits. Members of our club learn to provide culturally competent care, engage directly with local communities, and collaborate with nonprofit organizations. 

Our Team and Our Story

Asian Community Health at Berkeley is a student organization at UC Berkeley, founded in 2023 by Cal alumna Megan Ly, with the mission to provide free health support for marginalized communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the past two and a half years, ACH has grown to encompass over 70 volunteers offering 8 different health screening services. We host 4 to 6 health fairs per semester, reaching communities across the Bay Area. Our partners include organizations such as Asian Health Services, UCSF Champions, APAMSA, VAMSA, VACCEB, Alameda County Office of Dental Health, BayPLS, MARU, CERI, and more!

Why Your Support Matters

Donations help ACH continue to bring free health services directly to Asian and limited English proficiency (LEP) communities in the Bay Area. Funds raised through this campaign will directly support supplies, equipment, and transportation needed to run these free community health fairs and expand our outreach capacity. Any and all gifts allow us to continue providing accessible, high-quality care at no cost to the communities that depend on us, while training student volunteers to become future leaders in equitable healthcare. 

How Your Contribution Makes an Impact

Funds raised through this campaign will be used over the course of the upcoming spring semester. We plan to allocate funds for mid-semester and end-of-semester restocks, ensuring that our student-led health fairs have the necessary equipment, nutritional items, and transportation support to continue serving the community throughout the year. These resources will be used for our scheduled health fairs and outreach events throughout the semester, ensuring consistent, high-quality care for the communities we serve.

Budget Breakdown: All estimates are roughly only, and actual expenditures may vary. 

• Medical Supplies & Equipment – 60% 
  • Glucometers, blood pressure cuffs, vision charts, BMI tools, and other screening materials to ensure smooth and efficient health fairs 
• Transportation & Volunteer Support – 15% 
  • Reimbursements for student volunteers traveling to community sites and outreach events
• Nutritional Support & Wellness Resources – 15% 
  • Healthy bars, educational materials, dental kits, and health kits distributed to community members at health fairs
• Program Expansion & Contingency – 10% 
  • Extra supplies for mid-semester restocks, post-semester replenishment, and emergency needs to maintain consistent services

If we do not reach our fundraising goal, the funds raised will still be used to support our health fairs and essential supplies, ensuring we can continue serving the communities at hand, even if at a smaller scale. Any remaining funds will be allocated toward future events and restocking necessary materials for ongoing outreach.
