Who Are We?

Drawn to Scale (DTS) is UC Berkeley’s competitive co-ed a cappella group. Our mission is to push the boundaries of vocal performance and musical arrangement while fostering a tight-knit community of passionate musicians and talented singers. This year, we are striving to achieve our biggest dream yet: advancing to the finals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) — the competition made famous by the hit movie Pitch Perfect! Last year, DTS advanced to the West Coast Semifinals, as well as winning Best Choreography for two quarterfinals in a row in our highly competitive division, and this year, we are determined to reach new heights. To make this dream a reality, we need your support. The funds raised will go toward covering competition and transportation fees, purchasing microphones to help us practice for the big stage, and investing in professional production to elevate our music & discography. Additionally, a portion of the funds will be reserved to ensure future generations of DTS can continue to thrive. Your contributions will help us showcase our talent on a larger stage and represent the music community at UC Berkeley!

We plan to use the funds for multiple purposes, including purchasing new microphones for our sound system. We have 16 members, but we currently only have 10 microphones. Our ability to practice for competitions is severely hindered by our inability to gauge what our final sound will be. If we advance to the semi-finals and finals for ICCA 2026, we will be using funds for necessary transportation fees . Additionally, we will be using the funds to pay competition fees. Remaining funds will be used for the completion of our EP, which will highlight and share the music our students produce.

Unfortunately, UC Berkeley does not currently provide free resources, such as sound systems, microphones, or performance spaces, for competitive singing groups to practice and perform at the level we need. This puts UC Berkeley’s competitive a cappella groups at a disadvantage due to our lack of access to proper equipment. Meeting our fundraising goal will not only allow Drawn to Scale to represent Berkeley on a national stage at the ICCA competition but also foster a more professional and talented a cappella community for future generations. We are passionate about putting Berkeley on the map in the collegiate singing world by delivering show-stopping performances that every Berkeley student can enjoy, bringing the magic of Pitch Perfect to life. With your support, we can focus on honing our craft, upgrading our sound equipment, and covering competition and transportation fees.

 BUDGET BREAKDOWN:

• Competition Registration Fees: $425
• Competition Logistics & Travel Fees: $500
• Sound Equipment: $825 (microphones and speakers for competition preparation, on-campus performances, and off-campus opportunities to represent Cal)
• Music Recording & Production: $1000
• Future Generations of DTS & Buffer: $250

DTS at ICCA 2025 Semifinals

While we would love to reach our goal to maximize our impact for UC Berkeley’s vocalists and represent our university at the highest level of collegiate a cappella, in the event of a shortfall, our fundraising needs are still largely independent of each other, and as such, any amount would still support us in key ways. In the event of reaching 30% or less of our goal, we would prioritize competition-related expenses. If we were to attain 60-70% of our goal, we would hope to cover these fees as well as sound equipment to represent our group and Berkeley in the best way possible at competitions and other performances, and if we were to reach 80% of the planned amount, we would then look to music production and visibility for our artists.
