Support Future Latinx Healthcare Leaders | CHE Fall 2026

CHE members at our annual Community Health Fair

Comunidad for Health Equity (CHE) is a pre-health and pre-med student-run organization at UC Berkeley that is dedicated to educating, empowering, and advocating for the health of the Latinx community. With our dedicated partners, we are committed to uplifting future health care leaders from all backgrounds and providing spaces where they feel supported and motivated to pursue higher education.

This year, we are raising funds for our key yearly events and community initiatives, specifically our annual Minorities in Health (MIH) Conference, our Ajuas, day laborer outreach, and our Community Health Fair. Donations will cover essential event costs, such as room reservations, food for attendees, as well as vital community outreach supplies, including ingredients for distribution meals for day laborers, printed resources pamphlets, and health kits. This ensures that all of our programming remains completely free and accessible to the Bay Area communities we serve.

CHE members at MIH Conference

The Minorities in Health (MIH) Conference is a conference that aims to educate students on health disparities that affect our communities and find ways to decrease these disparities by encouraging and inspiring both high school and undergraduate students to strive toward higher education and ultimately careers in health. Students will have the opportunity to network and interact with a variety of health professionals, medical students, and graduate students from schools throughout the Bay Area, attend beneficial workshops, participate in public health discussions, and better equip themselves for their journeys in these competitive career tracks. Additionally, students may have special access to free or greatly reduced MCAT and GRE Prep classes by attending the conference and will have access to the UC Berkeley Health Careers Opportunity Program Manager for career and graduate education advising sessions after the conference. All support toward this allows us to give these resources to College and High School Students for free!

Our annual Community Health Fair is our biggest outreach event. During this event we provide free health screenings such as blood pressure and blood glucose. We also provide educational presentations and resources curated very passionately from our members. As well as informational booths in collaboration La Clínica de la Raza.

Our Ajuas consist is a volunteering and outreach initiative where our members prepare and distribute food alongside health pamphlets. These resources are distributed to local jornaleros, day laborers and hard working community members. By supporting our fundraising campaign, donors directly fuel health equity in the Bay Area while investing in the next generation of diverse healthcare leaders. It allows us to keep our Minorities in Health Conference, Community of Health Fair, and Ajuas completely free for attendees, removing financial barriers for low-income families. Ultimately, this funding ensures our undergraduate members can provide vital health resources, meals, and mentorship to underserved communities while building the tools to become compassionate future health professionals. Together, we can inspire the next generation of health leaders and help reduce health disparities in our communities!

Here is how your donations will be directly allocated:

40%| Minorities in Health (MIH) Conference

Venue: Securing accessible event spaces and audio/visual equipment.

Food: Provide meals for attendees (students, speakers, and panelists)

Conference Materials: Program booklets, name tags, and workshop materials

30%| Community Health Fair

Health Kits: Assembling free health packages with hygiene items and first aid for families

Food: Snacks and Drinks for families and attendees that come to the fair

Materials: Health literacy materials for interactive tables

30%| Ajuas

Food: Purchasing fresh ingredients to prepare sandwiches for day laborers in Oakland and El Cerrito.

Resource Pamphlets: Printing multilingual health guides and information on low-income and immigrant health resources in the Bay Area

If we do not reach our goal, we will still realize our anticipated events, but we will likely only scale down event costs and prioritize community impact. We would make sure that events like Ajuas and community events are fully funded, and free for attendees. Any funds raised will be allocated towards operational expenses for these initiatives, with supplemental fundraisers and internal club funds that would hopefully cover any remaining gaps. In the case we surpass our goal, we will allocate additional funds for future events and program costs, such as volunteering opportunities that we offer and promote at MIH.
