About Us
The Intermission Orchestra at Berkeley, also known as TIO, is a student-run, full symphony orchestra dedicated to performing music from film, video games, and anime. Each year, TIO presents 3-4 concerts completely free and open to the public, with all of our full orchestral pieces arranged and conducted by our members. Besides a wonderful group of skilled musicians, we have in-house staff teams dedicated to art/graphics, photography and videography, audio tech, and video editing. Since our founding in 2017, we've grown to consistently bring our joy for music to packed performance halls of 600+ people because of our members' commitment and the generous support of donors like you!
Our Goals
In the past, donations have helped us rent our performance hall spaces in Hertz Hall and First Congregational Church and upgrade our audio and photography equipment. This year, we would like to integrate livestreaming in our concerts and improve our concert audio experience. Our goal is to increase access to our free concerts, especially for people who cannot attend in-person. Since our founding, TIO’s free concerts have aimed for increased accessibility to the arts, and the funds raised from crowdfunding will help us bring art to more people.
Budget Breakdown
- Livestreaming Cameras - $2000
- Audio Equipment (including mixing racks, in-ear monitors, rack mounts, and rack power conditioners) - $2000
- Performance Hall Rental Fees - $1000-2000
If we surpass our goal, we will use those to supplement rental fees for performance halls. Even if we don't meet our goals, we will prioritize audio equipment purchases and supplementing performance hall rental fees.
All donations are tax-deductible and come with tiered donor perks! A note for the Patron of the Arts tier: Patron of the Arts tier will be able to request a commission via an emailed form once Crowdfunding ends. The form will include individual artist FAQs and examples of their art. Once the form is submitted, TIO artists will contact the commissioner to relay project updates and deliver the final art piece.
