Production of Intranational International Boulevard (IIB) has been delayed due to a serious and lengthy health crisis in Professor Jensen's family. Jensen looks forward to resuming work on the atlas when the crisis is resolved and he is able to return to work.
Before the unfortunate events that led to this delay, the IIB team was planning to hold a community meeting to gather input and suggestions from community members. As a 30+ year resident of Oakland, Jensen feels very strongly that this project should be vetted by those that are the subjects of the maps: the communities of the International Boulevard corridor. The community meeting will be the first step in resuming work on the project.
When atlas-building resumes, the team will update the 20+ maps that have already been created, as well as add new content based on information and ideas garnered from the community meeting.
Thank you for your support and your patience. We will make this atlas and we will make it matter to the communities of Oakland.
Thank you.
Hi,
We've added a new perk at the $50 level. We will donate two atlases to schools in the International Boulevard Corridor PLUS all perks below this level, which include a shout out on Facebook and Twitter, your name as collaborator in the atlas on the collaborator's map, and an invitation to the exclusive atlas launch party where you can meet the team and get your atlas signed.
We'll be presenting our experience creating Intranational International Boulevard: A Street's Atlas this Saturday, April 18, at 10AM in 575 McCone Hall. Come see us if you'd like to hear more about our inspirations for the atlas, how we chose which maps to include, what it was like ground-truthing our data on International Boulevard, and the Berkeley Crowdfunding Initiative. Tell your friends!
See you there!
We had an awesome time at Cal Day meeting some of you and explaining our neighborhood atlas project in a little more in detail.
We're coming down to the wire with our crowdfunding campaign with only 16 short days left. Please spread the word about Intranational International Boulevard via your social media networks and help us make these last couple of weeks count!
Hi Everyone!
It is the last day of our crowdfunding campaign. Although we have not reached our goal, we have raised enough money to finish the atlas and get it printed! Help us with this last push by posting it to your social networks one last time! Or ask five friends to post it too. You could ask one friend to match your donation. Remember that the more money we raise, the more people will see our project!
Thanks everyone, for your support--we look forward to sharing the atlas with you when it is finished.
The Intranational International Boulevard team
Hello to all of our wonderful contributors! The end of our campaign has aligned seamlessly with the end of the UC Berkeley semester and now that it’s summer we’re kicking production into high gear! Thanks to your help we will be donating 232 books back to the communities along International Boulevard. Due to the high volume of books and our dedication to printing locally we will be finishing up production and printing in August instead of our original July date. To thank you for your help we would love to honor your contribution by including you on the contributor’s map page of the atlas. If you would like to be included please send an email with your name and location to intra.international.boulevard@gmail.com by June 15th. Please keep a look out for future updates; we will be in touch along the process!
