What is Smart Woman Securities?
We are Smart Woman Securities, a non-profit organization that introduces undergraduate women to finance, investments, and banking.
We believe that SWS can succeed in creating a new generation of smart women leaders in finance, and we are dedicated to making this happen.
In the fall, we host a weekly seminar to introduce all interested female students in: accounting, the stock market, valuations, and how to pitch a stock.
This foundation prepares us to compete in the spring as Market Analysts. Some events we are looking forward to this year include: the yearly National Stock Pitch competition hosted by SWS National, Invitational Competitions, and flying out to meet with investors like Warren Buffet.
Since its launch in 2006, Smart Woman Securities has spread to distinguished college campuses on the east coast. We are the first branch to bring Smart Woman Securities to the west coast.
How we're making a difference:
SWS is unique in that we streamline the whole educational and professional process of becoming familiar with the Stock Market.
We emphasize teamwork and mentorship between the board and analysts in order to provide work we're proud to submit to SWS National Headquarters. As a team, our Investment Board coaches all Analysts on how to valuate companies, make stock recommendations, and compile an Industry Report.
We want to help all members become well rounded. Throughout the year, we offer:
- mentorship opportunities with industry professionals
- workshops for public speaking
- resume critiques
- mock interviews for internships and full time jobs
- lessons on Excel and other practical skills
- personal finance workshops
We want all women to have sovereignty to make smart financial decisions for themselves, and we're proud of our growing community.
Why we need funding:
This year, we need your help in order to represent UC Berkeley at all of these conferences. All of these trips are funded from within the club, and without your generous donations we will not be able to have our team compete this year.
We're passionate about learning by doing, but we need your help to take these opportunities.
Please help SWS continue to be such a successful program by making a gift today.
This year, our budget breakdown looks like this:
We hope you will support us in making our educational journey a success.
