WEEK 1 RECAP: We are off and running--$43,716 raised for the Fund so far!

March 03, 2014

Our first week has been exciting as our campaign to scale the Haas SRI Fund got off and running.  Big thanks to our initial donors.  All other CRB friends and partners: please join them in supporting the future of sustainable finance!

Key highlights from our first week in action:

TGINPF! (Thank Goodness It's New Perks Friday!)

March 07, 2014

Dear supporters,

We've got two new donor perks from more partners--check them out below!

Design Thinking @Autodesk at $350 donation level

Take a private donors-only tour of the acclaimed Autodesk Gallery in San Francisco.  Autodesk's suite of cutting-edge software and services is often put to use to create more sustainable designs for a better world; leading the company's sustainability and philanthrophy efforts is Berkeley-Haas' own Lynelle Cameron (MBA '01).

3 copies of Lean In, signed by Sheryl Sandberg, at $100 donation level

Read Sheryl Sandberg's clarion call to women to take charge.  As COO of Facebook, she leads a team that includes several star Haas alumni, including Marcy Scott Lynn (MBA '06), who works on sustainabilty and public policy, and Libby Leffler (BS '09), who works on partnerships.

We want to thank, not penalize, our early supporters.  If you already donated and opted out of a perk, but are interested in these new ones, please email respbus@haas.berkeley.edu so we can add you to the tour/set aside a book for you.  **Those interested in Lean In must email by Monday evening, due to limited availability**

Many thanks from all of us at the Center for Responsible Business and happy weekend!

How important is the Haas SRI Fund to the investment management community?

March 18, 2014

We are more than halfway through the campaign for the Haas SRI Fund--time flies.  The good news is, thanks to all of you, we are over halfway to our goal--$63,111 to be exact!

How important is are your donations, and the Fund, to the investment community?  Hear it directly from longtime investment manager, Haas alumna, and new Fund supporter Vivienne Hsu (MBA '01).  She took a little time during a visit to the CRB to urge fellow alumni and investment/finance professionals to join all of you in supporting the campaign--help her spread the word!

We are very grateful to everyone who has donated so far.  Eleven Haas alumni, CRB board members and corporate sustainability and investment leaders have made generous donations over $1,000, including:

  • Ari Frankel (MBA ’10), Head of ESG Strategy, Real Estate with Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management
  • Dwight Gaudet (Berkeley-Columbia MBA '11), Principal, Sustainability Strategy & Leadership and CRB Alumni Advisory Board Member
  • Vivienne Hsu (MBA ’01), CFA and Senior Vice President with U.S. Trust
  • David Kepler, Executive Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer and Chief Information Officer at The Dow Chemical Company
  • Bo Miller, Director, Corporate Citizenship and Global Contributions at The Dow Chemical Company and CRB Senior Advisory Board member
  • Michael Pearce (MBA ’08), Managing Director at Cambridge Associates
  • Erik Peterson, Chair of the Latin Amer. Regional Council and CRB Senior Advisory Board member
  • Scott Pinkus, Retired, Goldman Sachs & Co. through the Pinkus Foundation
  • Dave Stangis, Vice President - Public Affairs & Corporate Responsibility at Campbell Soup Company, President, Campbell Soup Foundation
  • Haas faculty and staff Kellie McElhaney and Jo Mackness

We wish all of you a great week.

We did it!

April 08, 2014

Dear supporter of the Haas SRI Fund campaign,

Thanks to all of you, we not only achieved our $100,000 goal for scaling the Haas SRI Fund, but vastly exceeded it.  The final fundraised total was is $126,209, which, with donor matching, becomes a whopping $252,418!

Over $13,500 of the total came from companies matching employee donations.  If you are able to get your gift matched by your employer, let us know at respbus@haas.berkeley.edu so we can add it to our grand total—and so your original gift to the Fund will be quadrupled in impact.

If you opted for a special donor perk like an event or gift certificate, you’ll get follow-up email for it soon.

For now, once again, all of our gratitude!
