PADDLES UP!
Cal Dragon Boat carries on the 2500 year-old tradition of Dragon Boat, using modern training techniques and old-fashioned hard work.
Dragon Boat is the ultimate team effort. A crew of 20 paddlers and a steersman work together in unison, in a display of paddling power unlike anything else.
Cal Dragon Boat is a co-ed team of 60, representing Cal in both collegiate and international races. We’re primarily funded through fees collected out-of-pocket from our members as well as limited ASUC funds. Our expenses and race registration fees often outstrip what our individual members are capable of paying. Will you help us continue our success by making a gift to support our team today?
Our team was founded in 1998, a group of pioneers who developed a culture of passion and friendship that has endured. We have been an ASUC sponsored organization for 14 years. Today, Cal Dragon Boat is a proud member of the fastest growing water sport in the world, with a strong presence in the local and international Dragon Boat communities.
We have been one of the most successful collegiate programs in California. Our back to back victories in all categories of competition at the annual California College Championship are unparalleled in the history of the race. We are seeking support to pursue our next great challenge: international competition.
The Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival is among the largest, most competitive, and well-attended festivals in North America. It offers a world-class level of competition that will evoke both inspiration and rivalry in our young paddlers. This race is an opportunity for Cal Dragon Boat to represent Berkeley and the paddling community in California on the International stage.
Not only will our paddlers grow from racing side-by-side with the best in the world at this sport, but by giving a strong showing, we can inspire other young paddlers in their journey.
