Cal Ballroom

Cal Ballroom has been a pillar of the UC Berkeley dance community for years. We are UC Berkeley’s only competitive International Ballroom Dance Team, and we are proud to be the largest team on the West Coast. We offer Cal students high quality dance instruction through our professional coaches. Our members attend competitions throughout the state and nation, and have placed and won on national stages.

Giving students the opportunity to compete at this level takes an enormous amount of resources, and our students aren't able to provide them on their own. Because we are one of the few student dance groups to offer professional coaching, our dues and lessons must cover our coaches' salaries, which can be a strain on college students. Our expenses are ongoing, but we hope to raise money in the spring to provide scholarship funds and subsidies for team members next year. This will make lessons with coaches more accessible, and allow members to travel more for competitions. We are putting on this campaign because we want to be allow as many people as possible to dance. Ballroom can be an expensive sport, but we try to make it accessible for our fellow students and our community. Donors would be able to become a part of this community. We are a large and incredibly close-knit group, so the gratitude of even one student helped is multiplied throughout the team.
