KALX FM is the award-winning radio station at Cal and one of 6 FM stations in the UC system.

KALX is a co-curricular activity that, for more than 55 years, has provided students with opportunities to enrich their time at Cal with experiential learning and opportunities to create and broadcast high-quality and creative radio programming to the SF Bay Area and the world beyond - the kind of diverse programming not often heard elsewhere on the radio dial. Students can work behind the scenes in a collaborative environment on audio production, marketing, community relations, peer training, and management.

KALX provides an awesome community service broadcasting public service announcements (about the campus and the greater Bay Area), interviews with graduate students, Cal sports play by play, public affairs and news programming and a diversity of alternative music programming.

As part of our mission to educate, every KALX DJ is encouraged to play a variety of musical styles and genres. Rather than segregating music into limited boxes, this philosophy is an attempt to entertain the listener while broadening their musical experience.

Students who attend the 3 day CBI National Student Electronic Media Convention will get leadership development, skill building, and the opportunity to make connections with students in other schools' media organizations. KALX and UC Berkeley will reap the benefits of a broad, national perspective.
