The Cal Sailing Team was started in 1922 and is the second oldest club sport at Cal. We are 30 members strong and are a student-run with two volunteer coaches. We practice out of the Treasure Island Sailing Center, right next to the Bay Bridge, three times a week as well as competing on the weekends against other club and varsity teams. We are continually looking to expand our team's skills and continue the Corinthian spirit at Cal.
Since we are completely student-run, we have very limited resources towards raising funds for traveling and improving our practice equipment. We are in a conference where teams have their own paid coaches and their university's financial support, which makes it difficult for us to try and compete on an even playing field. We have the talent and drive to become one of the best teams in the Pacific Coast Conference, we just need a little help to give us that boost.

We are traveling more than we ever have this semester, from up and down the California Coast, Florida, South Carolina, to Hawaii and hopefully College Nationals in Virginia. The team pays out of pocket for these travel costs, which caused many of our best sailors unable to go. In early February someone stole our motor off our motorboat at Treasure Island Sailing Center. One of our alumni donated this brand new motor to us, and unfortunately, we were only able to use it for only three months before it was stolen. The lack of motor prohibits us from using the motorboat, which is an essential resource for practice. We need your help with replacing this motor. We are also open to motor donations. Another resource we need is help to purchase new dollies for our FJs. Currently, most of them have flat tires and are held together with tape. The dollies are crucial to carrying the boats in and out of the water at practice and for when we host regattas.
Please make a gift today. We greatly appreciate your support and thank you for helping us become the best team we can be! Go Bears!
