Our Goal --> CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS. Help the Cal Sailing fundraise for a one time purchase of a new (used) fleet of boats!
Benefits of Donating to Cal Sailing:
Creates real word experience for Cal Sailors: “Cal Sailing has taught me more about working toward long-term improvement, both on a personal and a collaborative level, than any class I’ve had in all four of my college years.” - Nicolai Sponholtz ‘22
Nurtures a connection with the ocean and weather which fosters a strong relationship of respect and love for mother nature.
Develops strong friendships and many important values in sailors such as good sportsmanship, honor, preparedness, integrity, common sense and teamwork to name a few.
Wants to grow. With your help, more boats allow for a larger team, a larger overall impact of Cal Sailing. A larger team also means a more competitive team, as a larger membership guarantees a larger variety of backgrounds and diversity, which strengthens a team. Lastly, a larger team helps us fundraise in the future and will help Cal Sailing develop for years to come.
What has Cal Sailing always been?
Founded in 1922 as the second oldest club sport at
Cal, Cal Sailing is a 30 members strong, student-run organization.
We practice out of the Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC) four times a week and compete on the weekends. The team is a club team, this means we are funded simply by dues and generous donations from our alumni.
ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE

What is Cal Sailing Now?
The team is a unification of students with a diverse array of sailing backgrounds. For the first time in 22 years, the Cal Sailing Team went to Coed Nationals in Norfolk, Virginia last year. A fantastic finish to a grueling season, the team worked hard through highs and lows to ultimately succeed at the qualifying regatta at the University of Hawaii. The talent and drive of Cal sailors brought us to Nationals, but we need your help to get us to the next level. We are continually looking to expand our team's skills and diversity and continue the Corinthian spirit at Cal.
What can Cal Sailing become?
An exciting question to ask, for Cal Sailing is wrought with potential. Cal Sailing has the opportunity to represent the west and place extremely competitively at Nationals, with your help. Treasure Island is being refitted to become the US Olympic Sailing Training Facility. As this is our home base, we hope this will attract up and coming sailors and will provide us with some exciting opportunities. With a great year behind us, Cal Sailing also hopes to keep augmenting the competitiveness of Cal Sailing. We need your help to capitalize on our opportunities.
How can you help?
The Cal Sailing Team is fundraising for a new fleet of secondhand boats to replace our 16-year-old fleet. This would provide much better practice conditions, allowing our team to practice on boats that are equal with our competition, and would also allow the Cal Sailing Team to host larger regattas such as nationals. Help us reach our goal so we can improve Cal Sailing.
