Formula Electric at Berkeley is UC Berkeley’s electric race car team. Our team’s 40 students have assembled from multiple continents, majors, and careers to build Cal's first electric formula-style race car to represent Berkeley at the Formula SAE Electric competition. We are tasked with developing not just the technologies for sustainable mobility, but also the innovators and leaders who will pave that path for the rest of their careers. We appreciate your support in our efforts to contribute to the innovative wellspring of UC Berkeley and the mission of a cleaner tomorrow.
The SAE International Formula SAE program is the most popular college engineering competition worldwide. It provides student the opportunity to enhance their engineering, entrepreneurship, and project management skills. Every year, each team independently designs, manufactures, tests, and races a small open-wheel race car. The cars are tested in a grueling series of acceleration, handling, endurance and efficiency events. The students' work is scrutinized in the design, cost, and business presentations, judged by experts from the automotive, aerospace, and supplier industries.
FSAE has two divisions: Internal Combustion and Electric Vehicle. 2021 will be the first time UC Berkeley competes in the EV division.
By putting ourselves through the research, design, manufacturing, testing, development, marketing, management, and financial processes necessary to compete, Formula SAE promotes skills relevant to all aspects of technological industries. But there’s something bigger than our academics or career-development at stake. It’s the primary reason why thousands of students from hundreds of schools across the world compete: we firmly believe that we need to act now in order to bring sustainable transportation solutions to the world. But none of this would be possible without the funds we raise from people like you. We’re grateful for your time and consideration and appreciate any support you can offer.
Our goal is to use the $10,000 raised from this campaign to pay for what is arguably the most important part of our car: the battery cells. Your support directly contributes to powering us through this competition in our inaugural year at Formula SAE Electric. Once again, a huge thanks from all of us at FEB. Go Bears!
