Since you last heard from us, Berkeley Hyperloop has evolved and is now Formula Electric at Berkeley, UC Berkeley's premier electric race car team. Our team of 150 engineers and business members is committed to researching, designing, manufacturing, and testing sustainable transportation technologies. Our goal is to compete in the annual Formula SAE International Electric Competition this summer at Michigan International Speedway.

We are dedicated to designing, building, and racing a high-performance electric vehicle that showcases the potential of electric power in the world of motorsports. It is a dynamic project that provides hands-on experience in engineering, teamwork, and innovation. Alongside the hard work our members devote, a significant amount of resources is required to bring a project of such magnitude to life.

This is where your support comes in! We have launched our crowdfunding campaign to cover the cost of materials for our inaugural aerodynamics package. With this addition, the front and rear wings will provide downforce to the car allowing us to reach greater speeds. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to our commitment to fostering educational development and sustainable technology.

Thank you for having supported bLoop in our previous crowdfunding campaign! We're excited to share with you some major updates.

Last winter, after SpaceX cancelled the Hyperloop Pod Competition, we transitioned our team into Formula Electric, to represent Berkeley in the world’s largest collegiate electric vehicle competition: Formula SAE EV. Carried over are our members, resources, and commitment to developing the technologies and the people for the future of sustainable transportation.

We're currently working on integrating and finalizing our vehicle design and preparing for manufacturing this winter and spring. We’ll be competing in virtual events throughout the spring, and face off against dozens of universities from around the world in June if conditions allow.

Our Fall 2017 crowdfunding campaign ends October 31, in 16 days.

Every gift makes a difference by helping to fund the components we need to build our levitating pod, including industrial magnets, welding and manufacturing equipment, carbon fiber, and sensors and electronics.

Crowdfunding & Design Updates:

1. We have added a new $10 backer reward: The Official Berkeley Hyperloop Sticker! Everyone who pledges $10 at this tier will receive a 2” x 3.5” sticker with the Berkeley Hyperloop logo!

2. Our Acceleration and Braking team has been working diligently at the Berkeley Hyperloop build space at the Richmond Field Station. They added an attachment for the levitation rig to test the old braking arrays as we prepare our new pod for the SpaceX Competition this summer.

3. We also wanted to announce a campaign stretch goal! If we can raise $5,000, then:

• $25 or $35 pledges will be upgraded to 2 tickets
• $50 pledges will be upgraded to 2 laser-cut coasters
• $100 pledges will have posters signed by the team engineers

We're hitting milestones!

Thanks to your help, Berkeley Hyperloop has now raised over $4,300, and we're only going up from here! With almost 30% of our funding goal reached, we can now afford to buy our Pod all of its Sensors and Circuitry, as well as transport it to the competition in January.

However, we're not nearly done yet. For Berkeley to shine, and for another step towards a functional Hyperloop, we still need you to keep backing us through the journey.
