Crowdfunding Update: Celebrating Our Successes!

October 12, 2024

Thank you all for your support last year! We are thrilled to share some amazing updates, which we couldn’t have done without your generous support. Thanks to you, we exceeded our crowdfunding goal by $3,000, bringing us closer to advancing space technologies and rocketry. Here's what we’ve achieved last year:

✨  Successful Launch of Caldera: Our two-stage vehicle, Caldera, reached an impressive apogee of 27,326 feet, shattering the UC Berkeley Apogee Record! This achievement marks a significant milestone for our team, showcasing the hard work and dedication that went into designing and building the rocket. The launch not only pushed the limits of our capabilities but also set a new standard for future projects.

✨  6th Place at IREC: Competing at the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) was an incredible experience. We secured 6th place in our category and had a blast participating in this amazing event. The competition was fierce, but we’re proud of what we achieved.

✨ ALULA Launch and Recovery: Our first liquid rocket, ALULA, achieved an apogee of 6,126 feet, making history as the first liquid rocket from UC Berkeley to be successfully recovered. ALULA’s success didn’t stop there—it also won the Dollar Per Foot Competition at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and talent within our team, paving the way for even more ambitious liquid projects ahead.

KELSE-Y Surpassed Expectations:Our innovative biological payload, KELSE-Y, was housed in a CubeSat form factor and garnered significant praise from the judges at IREC, commending our approach and execution, and in turn recognizing the project's potential for advancing scientific research in space environments. This achievement highlights our team's commitment to not only pushing technical limits but also exploring new disciplines in engineering.

Your contributions have been instrumental in making all of this possible. Thank you for being part of our journey as we continue to aim higher and reach for the stars! As we go into the 2024-2025 school year, your support is still incredibly valued. Our most ambitious projects are happening, and we need your support more than ever. Consider donating to STAR so we can achieve even greater things in this school year!!
