UCB Symphony Orchestra Tour to Spain - Summer 2017
The UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra (UCBSO) will soon embark on its second international tour to Spain! This tour will invite unique opportunities for rich cross-cultural exchange. While abroad, the orchestra members will be ambassadors for our campus, showcasing the unique musical talents of our university’s performers and composers in four distinguished halls. They will also have the opportunity to experience the deep and vivid culture of four major Spanish cities, enriching their time at UC Berkeley.
We need the participation of as many of our members as possible in order for this tour to be a success. Unfortunately, a great portion our students do not have the financial means necessary to cover the cost of this tour. We are thrilled to have an increased number of new talented students in the orchestra this spring semester. Therefore, in order to accommodate this growth, we need your help!
Your contribution can ensure that none of our students miss this tour due to a lack of resources, and all of them may learn and grow from this unique opportunity!
With its 90-year history, the UCBSO is the longest standing orchestra in the UC system. The diversity of our members makes this group a special and vital part of our community. Our ensemble maintains a high standard of musicianship and performance, and yet, the majority of our musicians are not music majors. In every corner of the orchestra, there are undergraduate and graduate students at the top of their fields, involved in cutting-edge developments that are changing the world. However, the 100+ members of our orchestra never fail to meet twice a week to rehearse our difficult repertoire, driven and united together by our combined passion for music. While our members are improving the world with their personal research, our orchestra is improving our community by making it a more inclusive and united space through music.
Help us all get to Spain, and make a contribution today! Thank you!
